Receive data from other systems

PalletWatch can receive data from other systems.  This can be done by the following options:
  1. API (Application Programming Interface).
  2. CSV file attached to email.
  3. Importing files manually.
In all instances you will need to contact support@palletwatch.com.au to have it set up for you.  Additional costs may be incurred.

CSV File attached to email

The process to enable csv files from other systems to be imported is as follows:
  1. Send an example of the file you wish to have imported.  This file needs to be in a csv format.
  2. PalletWatch will either set a custom importer up and will provide a specific email address to send the files to or PalletWatch will load up the Standard Importer for you to use.
  3. You can view the email address to send your custom imports to by going to Data/Imports and selecting the Importers tab.
  4. You can view imported files by going to Data/Imports on the main menu.
  5. Click on the Log button to see what dockets have been loaded along with other messages.
  6. If you see messages indicating a problem with the import either resolve them or raise a support ticket in the PalletWatch ticketing system.  This can be found at the bottom of Help pages.
  7. Click on the the Download button to download the file and view its contents.

Importing  a file manually

To import a file manually please do the following:
  1. Go to Data\Imports.
  2. Select the Importer.
  3. Drop the file into the import field.
  4. The file will appear in the top row.
  5. Click the Refresh button.
  6. Click the Log button at the left of screen and look for any messages relating to transactions which have failed to import.
  7. You can indicate whether the log file needs to be followed up or that it is OK by clicking on the buttons at the bottom right of the Log.
  8. Rectify the problems with the transactions that did not import and re-import the file.

File import Fail

A file can fail to import if the format is not exactly as the importer has been set up for.  This could be as simple as an extra comma in a row.

Provided that PalletWatch has not changed the Importer then it is the responsibility of the file owner to find the problem.  The problem will be data related.  It is a time consuming task to find the fault and thus great care should be taken by those responsible for sending files to the PalletWatch importer to ensure that data is as it should be.

If the Importer has not changed then users can check the faulty file data against a file that had successfully imported.

Once the fault has been resolved then the file should be reimported.

If users cannot find the fault they can request PalletWatch to assist but this could incur additional charges.
