Receipt Date
Many trading partners calculate their effective date from the date they received the pallets. PalletWatch applies a very basic transit days calculation when you raise a transfer off, e.g. if going from NSW to Victoria then 1 transit day would be added to the despatch date and this becomes the Scheduled Receipt Date.
This Scheduled Receipt Date may not be accurate as the delivery may have a timeslot on a different date or the receiving site may not work on weekends, etc. To improve the accuracy of the Scheduled Receipt Date you could do the following:
- If you raise the docket before the Despatch Date then ask users to ensure that they select the correct despatch date - not the one which automatically appears.
- When creating an off docket click on Auto in the Receipt Date field. This will change the Auto button to read Manual.
- Select the date you believe the delivery will be made. This could be sourced form the customer's delivery instructions on their documentation.
An alternative to this could be to change the delay days but this may not work for the following reasons:
- Receivers may only look at the Scheduled Receipt Date on the docket. Changing delay days or the Effective Date will not change the Scheduled Receipt Date so it will still appear as being incorrect to the receiver. E.g. if you change Woolworths delay days from 30 days to 31 the Woolworths receiver will enter the actual date received so you could end up giving Woolworths 32 days instead of 30.
- If CHEP equipment is involved then an EDO (Equipment Days Offset) could be in place and thus you cannot change the delay days as CHEP applies them automatically.
