Setting up Non Hire Moves

A Non Hire Move is where the equipment is not being transferred form one account to another, instead it is loaned or exchanged.  If you want to use Non Hire Moves for your account then you meed to do the following:
  1. Raise a Ticket to PalletWatch Support or email support@palletwatch.com.au.
  2. Once PalletWatch Support has completed the setup then go to Data\Account Setup.
  3. Click in the Settings tab and click in the Enabled features tab.
  4. Select Non hire moves and click Save.

Some options for using Non Hire Moves

There are a number of ways you can use Non Hire Moves.  Some of these are:
  1. Raise them to your trading partner.
  2. Raise them to one of your trucks where the driver is responsible for keeping track of pallets loaned or exchanged.
  3. Raise them as a placeholder for Pallet Transfer Authorities (PTA)s.  See https://support.palletwatch.com.au/portal/en/kb/articles/pallet-transfer-authorities

Creating a Non Hire Move

In the Create Docket menu there is Non Hire Move Off and Non Hire Move On.  A Non Hire Move Off is equipment despatched by you and a Non Hire Move On is equipment returned to you.

How to use Non Hire Moves

You can use one docket or multiple dockets to track movements.

One Docket for both sent and returned
You could either use the same docket to record equipment sent and returned.  This would typically be where the equipment is returned on the same day as it was despatched.

Multiple Non Hire Dockets

A more common method is to raise a Non Hire Move Off for equipment despatched and a Non Hire Move On for equipment returned.  In both cases the Owed Equipment report provides transaction details and a running balance.  A negative balance figure means that the equipment is owed to you.  In the case of a Non Hire Move Off and a Non Hire Move On only the Quantity Sent field is used in both cases.
