Site Closing Balances
In a reconciliation you are comparing:
Physical Count or Adjusted Physical Count
+/- Owed Pallets
v
Closing Balance
+/- Uninvoiced Transactions
Hire companies do not use sites. Depot to depot movements are between sites thus depot to depot movements do not affect the account closing balance. If a depot to depot move is done then it will impact the physical count as the amount of pallets counted at one site will decrease whilst another site will count more. The total physical count will remain unchanged.
PalletWatch can use sites. If a reconciliation report is run for individual sites then a depot to depot move will impact the number of pallets counted as the pallets will have moved. The report is only concerned with one site, it will not thus show pallets received offset by pallets sent. This means that the bottom part of the above calculation needs to have a corresponding impact. It cannot be uninvoiced transactions so the impact will be on the closing balance.
A depot to depot movement will change the closing balance at a site level but not at an account level.
If pallet controllers want to set up an account for site reconcilaition reports they will need to consider how depot to depot movements can impact the site closing balance. In some cases depot to depot moves need to be raised between the original site and any new sites added.
